Poet's Block!

I am having trouble writing
so give me some time
Forget writing,i can't think
even of a word to rhyme!

Last week i wrote poetry
like the back of my hand
Now words have no entry into my
 head,i just don't understand!

My imagination now
refuses to flow
My esteem first high
now has become low!

Maybe it is time
 finally for a break
I will have to take it
for my writing's sake!

A writer's block has struck me
or a poet's block to be called
It is jamming my head now
and has my writing stalled!

So a break i shall take
and come back with a bang
And so leave my work
as it continues to hang!

So off now i go for
my long or short break
Who knows seriously
how long it may take!

Mac Millan and the gypsies

On the move with the gypsies
was young Mac Millan
His journey had just begun
and he felt it was heaven!

But a gypsy's life was hard
and far from ideal
Mac was living a dream
that was very far from real!

Soon three hours into the journey
and his legs felt like lead
With his aching body
that moved as if dead!

But the gypsies moved on
at a very steady pace
His vision was blurring
as the sweat washed down his face!

He was already cursing
and panting under his breath
But his stubborn legs moved on
as if eluding death!

He thought he would fall but
luckily a village came by
When the tents were erected
he fell down to die!

But dead he was not for
only hours into his sleep
A gypsy kicked him awake
and wanting to weep!

But his ordeal had just begun
and worse it was to get
For now he was to be
a part of a wild gypsy bet!

The bet between the gypsies
and the villagers was such,
"Whoever pulled Jeremy
would get gold as much!"

The problem was that
Jeremy was a bull
Not wild but stubborn
truly hard to pull!

Young Mac knew
that he could never win
What a difficult situation
now he was in!

Now as the challenge was
about to begin in front of the crowd
Up went the cheers for Jeremy
which indeed were quite loud!

But as Mac used a rope
to pull at the bull
It did not even budge
let alone be pulled!

But suddenly to everyone's
surprise it began to walk
As Mac pulled , Jeremy moved
the villagers were shocked!

The challenge was over
and Mac was glad it was done
The gypsies cheered for
they knew they had won!

The gypies took the gold
and continued to move on
They moved at a rapid pace
and soon the village was gone!

What Mac did not know was
that the bull had been drugged
The gypsies always cheated
and thieves they were dubbed!

Thus they went on their way
to far away lands
For next they headed
towards the desert sands!

For now Mac's chapter ends
here as said
Who knows now what
adventures lie ahead!

What happened in Bookville?

Once upon a time
When books were abundant still
They all lived happily
In the city of Bookville.

With books around everywhere
And libraries as many as malls
It was utopia,an amazing paradise
A place in the dreams of all!

But one day,strangers visited
this beautiful wonderland
They called themselves E-books
and their entry was grand!

Change was coming over
and took Bookville by storm
Little did the books realise
where trouble was coming from!

At first the e-books were few
But soon they were so many
Soon they were on the streets
as space was taken from libraries!

But they could be used
to fill tiny little chips
As the books disappearing
and fast taking a dip!

So the books gathered secretly
and decided to declare war
They would eradicate the e-books
and show whom Bookville was for!

But little did they know
that the e-books would win
As they did'nt need paper
for the E-Readers they were in!

And soon the books lost
as they were'nt upto date
They had to evolve and
for them it was too late!

And one day the time came
for the books to say goodbye
They would search for a place
where they could peacefully lie.

And thus fell Bookville to
the changing winds
As the e-books were happy
of the books' good riddance!

But today also there
are some books still
Waiting for their time to come
at the new city of Kindleville!

Three children and two shovels!

One winter day as i walked across a construction site, i saw three children aged 4 or 5 playing in the dirt digged up at the construction site.It seemed their mothers and fathers working at the construction site  did not pay much attention to them. The thing that surprised me was that the children were playing and digging at the dirt with the building shovels(iron)about their size!
Would it not be dangerous? But unfazed i was about to walk on when the girl(there were 2 boys and 1 girl)suddenly started crying. The reason for this was that 1 of the boys had snatched her shovel and was playing in the dirt. The girl screamed and started fighting with the boy! When it was about to get serious one of the working women came and hit the girl many times to silence her!Man! this was getting brutal, until the other women stepped in and stopped it.But the girl cried now not only for the shovel but also for the beating! As for the boys stopped playing and watched on.
Now the girl all alone cried in one corner as the women returned to work with the boys watching on.But then to my surprise the boy who had snatched her shovel went over to her and gingerly passed it on to her and left! Now the girl finally on her feet took up her shovel and returned to her field of play! But do not think the boy did not have anything for then he walked into a small cabin and came out with another tool, this time the tool resembled a kind of a brick layer! Now you know where they got their 'toys' from!As the three children continued to play the girl with her shovel would dig up the dirt and transfer it to an iron basket which then the boy with the brick layer would try to set into dirt bricks! But that was not all,for the second boy not to be left behind would take up those bricks and then try to set them on top of another into two pairs on top of each other as if making a building out of dirt! And as it always fell apart they would repeat this process with a team work and timing which only they were aware about!
In doing so if some amount of dirt went into a child's eyes the other would rise up to clear  the dirt from the affected child's eyes!Had they ever gone to school i do not know but they worked perfectly with the intelligence and instinct known only to our so called'Generation Y'!
But after leaving these children to do what they were doing i realised  some things that day-
*Firstly-In the hands of these children were dangerous building tools and they were only 4 or 5.On the other hand a well of child of their age would be holding a brand new ipad which they would be handling with considerable ease. Both these things come by a combination of instinct and careful observation of their respective parents and surroundings.

*Secondly-These children were beaten up just for crying out loud at what they thought was the loss of their 'toys' by their elders!

*Thirdly they were handling such tools and easily obtained them with nobody even giving it a glance! No stopping them or scolding them for these actions, just for their crying!

*And lastly which i must say was the best was that when one of them was crying alone the other did go and give their thing(even though they could get another!).And when the dirt went into one's eyes the other child did help clear it out and amazingly when the children were fighting they did not use the tools just their hands(thank GOD for that!).This showed that they did not know hate for each other despite maybe noticing such use almost regularly!

So you see we guys who spent our childhood in the care , safety and freedom which our parents provided us with are what the famous author Arvind Adiga of 'The White Tiger'fame calls the 'Light' and these unfortunate people,'The Darkness'.
As a conclusion all i would like to say the late Nelson Mandela's words,"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his religion.People must learn to hate. And if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
May your soul rest in peace and thank you Mr Nelson Mandela for showing us what freedom and brotherhood mean.

Once I had a dream

Once i had a dream
To fly like a bird
To rule the skies
From where my voice could be heard.

Once i had a dream
Books,lots of them surrounded me
They spoke to me and i listened
Listened with  delight and glee.

Once i had a dream
On top of the world i stood
I saw the beauty from there
And i felt really good.

Once i had a dream
Where i saw a tree
All the fruits grew on it
And it shared these with me.

Today,lots of books surround me
On top of the world i stand
I enjoy the fruits of labour with glee
With my voice heard across the land.

The women of a proud nation

I am working overtime, late at night
Suddenly I sense a presense
Lurking in the darkness out of sight
But nothing is heard,only silence.

At this hour,i thought i was alone
And then i felt it again
Fear envelops me,like flesh on bones
For i am a woman in a world of men!

A door creaks open,a shadow moves by
Fearing the worst,i clutch my pen
As lights switch on,she enters, a collegue of my
Relief!i get back to my work again.

But why was i so scared you ask?
Why so concerned about my safety?
Women empowerment is still an unfulfilled task
A great dream,still not reality.

Still mistreated,are this country's daughters
Considered inferior to men!
A male child is usually sought after
Nobody ever looks at us again!

But new is this generation of women
We shall not take this lying down
Mistreat us, they shall never again
Our voices heard and never lown!

Hope and optimism is in the air
A new sense of power and elation
Fulfilling our dreams is something we dare
We are the women of this proud nation.

The thief and the little orphan girl.

He begged,he borrowed
and he regularly stole
He fended and fed
his large family whole.

Not a job he had in
his entire life done
Never had he worked
under the sweltering sun.

He mocked,he laughed
at the working men
Trouble would come
and he would know then.

But he never bothered
to mend his ways
He had spent in prison
a good number of his days.

And now in prison
he met some one
Who made him regret
at what he had done.

The visiting church
priest was the man
As the thief's honest
days finally began.

On release some
work he found
In the coal mine
underground.

Returning home
totally unkempt
His wages worthy of
his family's contempt!

Pestering him towards
the path of crime
His family was left
by him this time!

He refused to go back
to his stealing days
He refused to lead
his life in disgrace.

He was a lonely man
not a soul for him to care
He decided to end his
life full of despair.

But on his way he found
a little orphan girl
With a sad heart and her eyes
shown like bright blue pearls.

Sorry for the child
he decided to live
Anything the girl wished
he was ready to give.

The girl brought
him great joy and peace
His life was happy
and his heart pleased.

Now he would work
hard day and night
For the girl who made
his life shine bright!

The magic of a book

I entered a book store
very nice and small
From fiction to folklore
it had the best books from all.

I sat down hooked
to a book of crime fiction
The beginning was all it took
for the magic to begin!

I entered a world
of fear and dread
From word to word
of the mystery  i read!

At the end of the book
four hours were done
Towards the clock one look
and the magic was gone!

But the very next day
i was back for more
The books lead the way
right from the door!

I sat down hooked
to a book of fantasy
The world around me shook
out of pure ecstacy!

I entered a world
of amazing magic
From word to word
away from reality's fabric!

At the end of the book
i put it down
Time was the crook
that caused my frown!

Books were my addiction
and i needed a fix
They took me to detinations
on my bookstore visits!

Reading is a habit good
the library a brilliant inn
For the brain it is the best food
So take up a book
and let the magic begin!

The character i wrote and loved!

Well people tend to fall in love all the time! But was there something weird about my love?God knows. All i knew was that if what i was thinking was true then maybe i was psychotic!
My name is David Penn and i have always had an ambition to become a writer. But you see i am thirty five and am still unemployed in the conventional sense.I am not suited for jobs which follow a definite time pattern and neitheram i interested in my fathers business. The society has branded me 'unemployed',my friends have branded me a loser and my father has branded me 'good for nothing'!Hey what about the thing of 'follow your dreams'!What can i do if no one is willing to read what i write. And yes because of that i am yet to be married!
Welcome to my life readers and those who just read for the sake of it!Well now that you know my background let me tell you why the heading of the story and why i am i psychotic!
This happened two years ago and i still have to complete it!What you ask?The book i am writing of course!Well i got the idea of writing a romantic novel which people say usually women are good at writing.Agreed, but still i thought lets go ahead.I struggled for two days over the title and named it 'Jane-an amazing experience'.Don't ask why i just thought about it!Maybe i am not a good writer!Oh well!coming back to the story i first started character sketches on my to be characters in the plot.Again i struggled so i decided i would start with 'Jane',the lead character.
I started,"Jane would be a woman of 21 who will be your average 'girl next door'.She would be a slim brunette who pretty in her own way.She would be mature for her age, free minded, independent and headstrong. She would be fun to hang out with and a person who you can confide in."Now with this character in mind i was to base my entire plot on and there would be two men competing for her.One would be the famous and rich millionaire tycoon,Robert Baron and the other would be the struggling writer,John Mitchel.I decided i would stop for now and take a short nap.It so happened that in my dreams i was playing John Mitchel facing the tycoon snob for Jane. Some people say it is good for writers to associate with their characters. So maybe i was going to finally crack it!
As days became weeks and weeks became months. But my novel was not progressing at the pace i had thougt it would.I had thought that i would finish it within 1 year and maybe get it published within 3 months.Damn! Was i lazy or was i just expecting too much?Whatever it was i was soon to find out.The thing that held me back was Jane herself!Yes as i wrote more about her i was also thinking a lot about her!I had developed a very biased sympathy towards thae character John and mild jealousy towards 'Robert'!They say the famous authors Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie wanted to get rid of their famous characters 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Hercule Poirot' because their success was causing people to associate with them so much that it caused a pain to their respective authors! And probably this was happening to me in my very first novel!I had started writing about 'Jane' in the present tense like,"Jane is ging here" and questioning 'her' as in "Why does Jane prefer Robert?" Man! was i associating with characters!I was sucking myself into my own novel!Maybe i was feeling sorry for John or feeling bitter towards Robert.Did you notice now i am talking as if they are regular people!Well i could change the plot to suit John but i relised this only two months back! What an idiot i am!
But do you know the true reason for this! The reason was i forgot i was the author,i forgot that Jane and the others were not real and i mostly i confused the plot with reality where i did not have control! Some of you may say dear readers that this is pessimism and that Man is the Master of his FATE,But this for me was never real.I depend on my family for my daily needs, the society does not even acknowledge the existence of us,the strugglers, the 'dreamers'and people are not willing to give us a chance. But now towards the end of my second year of writing my novel,i will complete it and i know i am revealing the end but John will win Jane and if there is no happy ending for me so be it,but THERE WILL BE A HAPPILY EVER AFTER FOR JANE,THE CHARACTER I WROTE AND LOVED!!*

*note-but now that you know the ending still buy my book when it comes out,ok please!

Once there was a boy and then there were none.

Once there was a boy
named Mac Millan
He would go to school
but come home by a.m. eleven.

When asked why so,
the reason he would tell,
"The school is very bad
and it can go to hell!"

His parents were mad
for the descipline he lacked.
he would go to school
but by eleven he was back!

His parents were worried,
at why he did so.
But maybe his teachers
would definitely know.

So when they met the teachers,
all the latter had to say,
That Mac never came to school ,
he never came that way!

His parents were scared,
for their son was a fool.
That idiot of a boy never
went to school!

So the next day when
 they sent Mac Millan,
they followed him to where
he went,till a.m. eleven.

Mac Millan went on and on
outskirts of the town,
into the small caravan,
where the gypsies were found!

As his parents watched,
he played,danced and sang
with horror in their eyes
with his large gypsy gang!

His parents caught hold of him
and took him along.
But even on his way home,
he sang the gypsy song!

On reaching home,
they locked him in his room.
Then they felt relieved,
as they rid him of his doom.

They explained to him
the gypsies were bad
and having left him in his room
Mac Millan was very sad.

As weeks passed by
Mac Millan went to school.
But he felt very lonely,
very reserved and cool.

His parents were relieved
but not for long,
for one day he never came home
and once again he was gone!

His parents went to the outskirts,
searched high and low,
but he fled away with the gypsies
never again his face to show.

So  in the start  there was a boy,
but now his story is done.
Along he went with the gypsies
and then there were none.

A bird in the sky is hope on the horizon.

After a couple of bright sunny days the weather took a turn for the worst.Man!!It was probably one of those dreary, wet period of the year.In our small town, the sun was always welcome but the rains during this period always brought misfortune. It would rain like hell for two weeks approximately destroying property and sometimes even taking lives. Then the floods would start and all kinds of communication, work and town activities would come to an abrupt halt. And once all this was over we would have to spend the next five to six months rebuilding and mourning for our lost properties and lives. No wonder I grew up hating the rains!
And now it would repeat again this year.I thought maybe the Gods, the clouds and the rains conspired only against our little town. Why not go and flood the cities! But my brother,a highly optimistic soul believed that something good did come out of everything. He always said,"A bird in the sky is a hope on the horizon. When asked what he meant by that,he just shrugged and said in time i would know!My brother and his futile hope!
Well when i was out in my bookshop(well we sold school and storybooks)selling a drawing book to a child, the neighbor shop fellow came and said that the first clouds had been sighted. When i came out to see these clouds did not look much but experience told me that they would get a lot bigger. For the last seven years these clouds did not miss one chance to cause a deluge and flash floods to destroy our small town. And now these clouds were here again!Well now that the warning had come it was but a matter of hours before calamity struck. We started closing our shops and packing whatever few belongings we had to carry them home.
When i reached home,i found my brother tending to our sick mother.our mother had been sick for three years now after that treacherous father of us had abandoned us and fled the town. But my brother had reacted differently. He had only smiled and said that maybe father was on along holiday.God!How naive could he be!Did he really think that our old man was on vacation or was he just shutting himself to the shock.Whatever it was,he never discussed father again and took up the job of caring for mother with zeal.Well as for me i handled the shop.By now a drizzle had started and after three hours it was pouring cats and dogs!We were safely in our house now preparing to spend another two weeks in captivity!Luckily we had stocked on enough food supplies for a month. As soon as this rainy disaster pass over we would go on to rebuild and renew our daily routine.Actually the rains had become a part of the routine now!Two days passed without uneventfully and with a great effort we had to ward of the boredom. But the coming week would be very eventful had i known it before.
Our  mother suddenly developed fits and were highly recurring for the next few days.whatever medicines had been given for these fits were stopped since the town doctor had told her not to take it because two years back the fits had stopped. But now as if the rains pounding our house was not enough even these damned fits were back! Why God,why! And now the dutiful son my brother was he  immediately left for the doctor's house to put an end to mother's fits. But the rains were still on and i had not even hesitated to stop my brother feeling relieved that i did not have to go.I was a coward like my father and only after my brother had left had i realized that! But i still did not go out to search for him when he did not  turn up for a full day!How shameful of me!I cried, begged and prayed to the Gods who i had damned, but neither did brother turn up nor did i go out to find him.My mother's sad eyes were always on me but she did not speak out. After one and a half days the rains mysteriously and luckily stopped and after the second day of my brother's missing a group of men arrived supporting my brother.Wow he was alive after all!And not only that he was clutching mother's medicine!
I could not see eye to eye  in fear of seeing my guilt reflected in my eyes. But all my brother said was,"At least  i did not go on a vacation like dad."Had i heard right,he was trying to justify to me!That was the last straw i broke down and cried like a baby for forgivness. But all my brother did was take me outside and showed me a fleeting white cloud which he said he thought was shaped like a bird. And then his words rung in my ears,'A BIRD IN THE SKY IS HOPE ON THE HORIZON'!
*note-do you also think this looks like a bird?

La Femme Fatale!

I always remember that day when i met her.God knows what happened to me that day!
Usually i am a very boring person who never interacted much.I was what you can call an introvert. But just remembering her  has a hold on me to this very day. This happened eleven years back.
I was in the second year of my Mcom and at the age of 23 was very much a loner. No friends ,no travelling mates also!Well but that day i realised i had another more darker part within me.It was the 24th of May and i was in a hurry to get to my college as i had to submit my accounts project.
VERY IMPORTANT!As i was already late i thought i would catch an auto to get to college. But no rickshaw came. What a bunch of idiots! And then i did ask two rickshaws with both charging prices to through the roof!"What about the meters"i asked.Without replying they just left.God!On this day out of all.But had i accepted the prices this day would be normal and would never haunt me in the coming years!
And then i saw an Audi stop some distance away and a girl get out. After that what happened must have been a dream or a film story. The girl had the most striking figure, jet black hair with blond streaks, big lovely brown eyes and clothes(even though i must say a bit free to show her lovely coffee brown skin)that did full justice to her.I do not know what came over me.But i did notice her driver( i.e. if he was)call out to her.But she just ignored him and looked around.Suddenly she saw me and walked towards me and asked on my face,"Would you like a cup of coffee with me."But the thing more shocking was my reply. Before i knew it i had agreed to the date(as i thought it!).We walked a bit without talking until we came up to a Cafe Coffee Day cafe and entered. She had not uttered a word and i was just staring at her.I had forgotten the project the tim e and all my surroundings.
She orderted a double latte and looked at me for the first time.I asked for water! The man behind the counter looked at me with a "are you alright "look. But my eyes were only on her. What was wrong with me,why could'nt i look away. But she was aware of this and when we sat on the table smiled and told"You like me don't you."I was taken aback not at the question but at my own reaction, for i had already touched her hand!Damn! What was happening to me.Why was i behaving like this?I admit i had noticed girls but what was there i her that attracted me like my life depended on it!
And then i realised  that other boys whether alone or with girls were also staring at her!And then a weird rage took over me and i shouted"Stop staring!"Oh great now i was turning possessive! But all she did was smile mockingly at me and then to my further horror wink at one of the oogling boys!My heart and mind shattered out there only! The other boy grinned and cast a victorious glance at the other boys and me.But she was not done yet! Then she touched my hand that sent a current of warm blood up to my head and as if brought my broken heart back to life! She had the smile of a goddess and her touch and eyes were magnetically attractive. Her full red lips twisted into dark red arc of dark delight at the sight of my helplessness to such trivialo gestures from her.
She was toying with me and i could not do a thing.I was enchanted, spell bound whatever you call it.
And then she brought her mouth close to the side of my face and whispered in her light, attractive voice which sent a cold shudder down my spine. She had said,"What a LOSER,you are!"And then she suddenly left. I was left frozen and then i realised that she was gone.I did not submit my project that day.Actually i did not go to college for the next two weeks!Instead i would go to that same place and wait for two hours waiting to see whether she would come. But she never came. She had just  vanished leaving me crazy, just the way she had appeared.
To this day i do not know who she was, where she came from or even what was her NAME!All i know was that she had left me crazy enough to remember her even after eleven long years! She was truly LA FEMME FATALE!

Lead the Way

Do not follow
Do not sway
Do with reason
lead the way.

The time has come
To go beyond what lay
To leave your comfort zone
and lead the way.

Look towards the future
But live today
Learn from the past
and lead the way

Soon your time will come
So do not dismay
And do not forget
to lead the way.

Love what you do and do what you love

Well to be honest i do not know whether i am doing what i love.It may be pretentious of me to say that i am doing what i love to do.What i really love to do is reading books, blogging like this just for fun, writing any poem i want(i.e if you have read my blog!).To be honest i like being acknowledged for what i am good at.
Well, actually i do not even know whether am i a good amateur writer or blogger. But it helps me cool down and express myself.Do you feel like this whenever you do a particular activity.Of course you would,EVERYBODY DOES!!!.But the question is does everyone do what he or she loves to do.I do not think so.I saw this video shared on FACEBOOK by my friend and it showed that the recent most recent generation i.e.Generation Y  tends to mix pleasure with work. That is how it should be.We may not be good at it, BUT IT IS NOT OUR ABILITIES THAT DEFINE US BUT OUR INTERESTS(not exactly my line!!!)
There is nothing stopping you from what you do BUT YOURSELF!!.We may make excuses that our family, friends or society held us back, but deep down we know that is not true.People curse sometimes that a person was successful because he was lucky. What they do not notice is that a person worked hard for what he wanted and achieved it.What people also do not know is that a for every success story there are thousands of stories about failure. These people who failed either never tried or tried, failed and gave up.They did not push on for fear of failing again.
My first line was that i do not know, but to be frank i know that i am not doing what i love to do everyday. But what i do know is that my family and friends would definitely support me and  that i am really enjoying BLOGGING about this topic.I would really love to have my own blog(not that this is not my blog!!!)and i would love to blog about whatever i want to without any restrictions.
So really,LOVE WHAT YOU DO AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE!Just do not hold yourself back because you feel you have no support or help because quoting the famous writer Paulo Coelho,"IF YOU REALLY WANT SOMETHING THEN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE CONSPIRES TO HELP YOU."(from the book The Alchemist).
(One day i will become a famous blogger and then you will quote me on this one.Just kidding!)

The Special One in my life

May all your hopes and dreams come true
May all the best things happen to you
You are that special one in my life
You were the one I always knew

Your troubles shall become mine
And my happiness shall become thine
You are the special one in my life
You are what makes my life shine

You are my most precious thing
For you are like a burst of spring
I shall always always be by your side
And to you  I shall always cling

You were there from the start
You are my better part
For I know you will be there with me
Even death shall not take us apart

Desire

What drives a person towards his goal?
What drives a person to take the lead?
What drives a person to stay ahead?
IT IS HIS DESIRE TO SUCCEED.

What draws a person towards others?
What drives a person to make loneliness end?
What drives a person to be social?
IT IS HIS DESIRE TO MAKE A GOOD FRIEND.

Why does a person want to travel?
Why does a person want to be heard?
Why does a person want to learn?
DUE TO HIS DESIRE TO KNOW THE WORLD.

Why for a person is the past history?
Why for a person is the future a mystery?
Why for a person is the present his time?
DUE TO HIS DESIRE TO BE FREE.

So there is a desire to succeed,
there is a desire to make a good friend,
then there is a desire to be free,
there is a desire to know the world,
IN HIS DESIRE TO BE HAPPY.

The eyes that reflected truth

He really NEEDED IT!Raghav would never see the world again with those beautiful blue eyes of his after that miserable day his life encountered twenty years back. The doctors had ruled out the return of his eyesight. But that was not to affect Raghav as he grew up to be a confident, handsome young man on whose stunning looks girls swooned at and which men his age glared at.Raghav was a brilliant student with a little extra help from his teachers and a lot more effort from him.
Raghav being the only child of a middle class family had been treated very normally by his parents. He had his own friends circle, got around without much help and always prided himself on his ability to do things which his fellow blind had a hard time doing.
So what was it that Raghav needed so badly!Well Raghav had just attained his MBA degree from a high ranking B-School based on a scholarship. Now armed with this he wanted to start his own business which he planned to expand enough to be the largest in his town. But his dream was not shared by others. They mocked him, banks refused to loan him money and his family and relatives just did not have enough capital. It was this capital that Raghav needed.
Even his family asked him to drop his idea. His father cited his blindness as the main reason and said,"Son why do you want to pursue an impossible dream which will only break your heart."To this Raghav replied,"Father I just need a chance after getting that chance I will think of the consequences."But Raghav knew that just  passion and hard work would not help him, what he needed was the capital.Raghav had even considered working in  small shops to earn the money but once again due to his blindness nobody offered him a job.
Finally Raghav thought that it was of no use and he decided to give up his dream. It seemed to him that all his life he would be destined to live in the shadow of his family.Would they be able to support him for all his life? Was he that worthless that nobody was ready to give him a chance?
As he was thinking he thought of going to his favorite park.he easily found his way to the park without anybody's help. After all he had been going to the park for years. The park was a beautiful one with a wide variety of flowered and aesthetic plants planted along the sides of a central pond which housed a number of colorful fishes. Its boundaries were marked by four Gulmohar and two Palm trees. It was quiet and peaceful which always allowed Raghav to push out negative thoughts
and calm down.Raghav always tried to visualize what the park was like.He was so busy visualizing he did not notice a person coming and sitting down beside him. When the person coughed it suddenly startled Raghav and he reacted so.The person then enquired,"What young man never seen another man before."To this Raghav apologized stating that he was blind. The stranger taken aback in return apologized for not having noticed. After that they got into a conversation in which Raghav eventually told the stranger about his problems.Raghav did not know whether it was the park or the caring nature of the stranger that prompted him to do so.Raghav felt light after pouring his heart out to the stranger. The stranger after listening to the story suddenly came up with a proposition. He asked Raghav,"Would you consider working for me."This time Raghav was taken aback. Was this man a fraud or just plain crazy!Raghav daringly asked,"How would I ?"The old man laughed and said,"Well boy if you can find your way then two streets from the park is my shop which occupies the whole block!"Raghav could not believe it he was talking to Keshavlal  the man who owned all the seven shops on the block and was one of the biggest businessman in the town. The old man left laving Raghav awestruck.
The next day Raghav visited the block and asked the lady working on the counter where he could find Mr Keshavlal. The lady directed him to the fifth floor of the building where Mr Keshavlal's office was located. On seeing him Mr Keshavlal immediately told him to start his job as the store manager of the electronics store which Raghav took up willingly that very day.Working with passion and dedication Raghav despite his blindness handled the store very well and became a hit with the customers.Within five years he was already managing four out of the seven and within another five he was Mr Keshavlal's right hand man. When time came for Mr Keshavlal's retirement he handed over the reins of his business to Raghav.
Finally Raghav got the courage to ask why had Mr Keshavlal given him a chance when others refused.Mr Keshavlal answered,"I did not see your blindness like others did.Your eyes could not see but your eyes did reflect your dreams and ambitions, but most of all YOUR EYES REFLECTED TRUTH."

The girl at the hospital

I was in the most foulest of moods. The reason was simple,I was at the  hospital.Man,how I hated the hospital.People waiting, whining and talking about their problems, illnesses and the dreadful hospital service filled this crammed building and literally spoiled your day!!!
Well I had accompanied my mom for her yearly check ups.Why the hell did I have to go,why not Shankar mama.Damn my day was gone.Four long hours of boredom and torture later my mom appeared and told me her reports may come after two hours so we may as well wait.WHAT!another TWO BLOODY HOURS.I knew my sanity would not hold. Why me GOD!
The lady next to me was blabbering to another man, maybe her husband about how her mother had passed away in this very hospital. So why visit it again, stupid lady!My mood was definitely off.AND THEN SHE CAME.She was maybe one of the prettiest girls I had ever seen.the only thing that spoiled the scene was that she was that she was wheelchair bound.Man,another pretty face and future lost due to some bloody reason.I thought,"If all these ugly sick people complain so much about their conditions, how much will people like that poor girl be complaining."
And unfortunately she was wheeled right next to me waiting her chance to see her doctor. She had come with her father who looked damn grouchy.SHE HAD DEFINITELY NOT INHERITED HER LOOKS FROM THAT GUY.An elderly nurse came and told her father that the doctor was late and so they would have to wait for some time.I got ready for some serious ear hammering sound from her pretty mouth. All she said was,"Fine I have lots of time,so I will wait."That was a relief.
She turned her head towards me and asked cheerfully,"What is your name."I answered,"Krishna, and yours."
"Pari' she answered .After that what we talked about, how long we talked for and when those two hours crossed by,I had no idea.I just knew that I had met the most cheerful, the prettiest and the most contented girl ever. Why was she so contented and happy in life?
I realized I had asked her that dreadful question, aloud.DAMN why did I ever ask!!But she just nonchalantly answered,"Well I had an accident  five years back and in that I lost the ability to walk. But the doctors said that the accident could have been much worse and could have been a lot more damaging so basically i am the luckiest person in the entire world. So every day I thank God for saving me from that great accident."
I just could not believe it!When people with no problems were complaining in the hospital including me,this girl who had lost her ability to walk was thanking God for saving her!
I left that day absolutely changed. This girl whose name was 'Pari' meaning 'Angel' was truly one.Now whenever i go to hospitals I ignore the people who complain, instead I search for a Pari among them.I never saw Pari again, but I know that somewhere in this world she is still thanking GOD and I hope so with all my heart that every thing good happens to her and that people REALIZE THE INNER 'PARI' IN THEM.

Pretentious people

Well people say that nothing in this world is free.
I with them absolutely agree.
This world has its own share of false people
Who prey on the proud and feeble.

Beware of such people we say.
For they harm you in their twisted way.
False praise and false love.
With no fear from the God above.

Your good times they share with you.
And your riches too.
But where are they when you need them most.
Disappeared as they left their host.

So choose wisely your company,
and believe in those who truly care.
For they are your greatest treasures,
for with them your life you share.
